1996 TROOPER (UX) REDUCED CRUISE CONTROL PERFORMANCE

APPLICABLE VEHICLES

1996 Trooper (UX) models equipped-with automatic transmission and cruise control prior to VIN No. 6T7901444.

SERVICE INFORMATION

At highway speeds with the cruise control engaged, some affected vehicles may exhibit a condition when climbing a grade/hill, where the transmission will not upshift into fourth gear after a third gear downshift.

To eliminate this condition, replace the existing cruise control unit with a new, improved cruise control unit (Part No. 8-97141-972-0) using the procedure described in this Service Bulletin. The existing cruise control unit is identified with a yellow part number identification label. The new cruise control unit is identified with a red part number identification label.

REMOVAL

Cruise Control Unit

^ Remove in accordance with Section 9B of 1996 Trooper (UX) Workshop Manual (UX00-WSM-L0003-00).

INSTALLATION

Cruise Control Unit

^ Install new cruise control unit (Part No. 8-97141-972-0) in accordance with Section 9B of Workshop Manual.
