Seat Fastener Weld Nut - Repair Procedure

SERVICE INFORMATION
Condition:
In Axioms, removing the front seat assemblies without following the procedure in Information Bulletin IB01-11-S002 may result in a front seat rear fastener weld nut(s) breaking off. Failures, as a result of improper removal, are not covered under warranty.
Correction:
Follow the suggested procedures in this bulletin for replacing the front seat rear fastener weld nut(s).
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Park and secure the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the battery ground.
3. Lift the vehicle on a hoist.
4. In order to repair the driver's side rear outer fastener, use a hole saw and drill a 28mm hole by the edge of the frame through the lower support bracket. Refer to figure 1 and 2 for location. If the driver's or passenger side rear inner fasteners require repair, proceed to step 12.
5. This hole will expose the location for the front seat rear fastener weld nut.
6. Locate the old weld nut and discard.
7. Install the new weld nut and torque the seat fastener to 29 lb.ft.
8. Using a Mig Welder, tack weld the nut in place.
9. Spray black underbody wax on the area surrounding and inside the new hole. Pay special attention to coat the fresh cut metal edges.
10. Plug the hole with a frame hole plug. (Figure 3)
11. If necessary, follow these first ten steps to repair the rear outer seat fastener for the passenger seat.
12. If the front driver's side rear inner seat fastener weld nut is damaged, then the gas tank must be removed. Follow the procedures in the applicable workshop manual for gas tank removal. If the front passenger side rear inner seat fastener weld nut is damaged, then the center exhaust pipe must be removed. (Figure 4)
13. Using a Hole saw, drill a 28 mm hole at the location in figure 4.
This will expose the location for the front seat rear fastener inner weld nut.
14. Locate the old weld nut and discard.
15. Install the new weld nut and torque the seat fastener to 29 lb ft.
16. Using a Mig Welder, tack weld the weld nut in place.
17. Spray black underbody wax on the area surrounding and inside the new hole. Pay special attention to coat the fresh cut metal edges.
18. Plug the hole with a hole plug. (Figure 3)
19. Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
20. Reconnect the battery.
