Exhaust system torque specifications

Cylinder Head bolt





Using J-24239-01 cylinder head bolt wrench, tighten bolts in numerical order as shown in the illustration to the specified torque.
Torque M11 Bolt
Temporary 29 Nm (21.4 ft. lbs.)
Final 64 Nm (47.2 ft. lbs.)
Torque M8 Bolt
Temporary 21 Nm (15.5 ft. lbs.)

Cylinder Head Surface Variation




Inspect cylinder head deck, common chamber and exhaust manifold mating surfaces for flatness. These surfaces may be reconditioned by milling. If the surfaces are "out of flat" with "round" by more than specification, the surface should be ground to within specifications. Replace the head if it requires machining beyond the repairable limit.
Head surface and manifold surface
Standard: 0.05 mm (0.002 inch) or less
Warpage limit: 0.1 mm (0.0039 inch)
Maximum Repairable limit: 0.2 mm (0.0079 inch)
Head height
Standard height: 133.2 mm (5.2441 inch)
Warpage limit: 0.1 mm (0.0039 inch)
Maximum Repairable limit: 133.0 mm (5.2362 inch)

Intake Manifold
Install common chamber and tighten bolts and nuts to the specified torque.
Torque:
Bolt 18 Nm (13.3 ft. lbs.)
Nut 18 Nm (13.3 ft. lbs.)
Install throttle body and tighten bolts to the specified torque.
Torque 10 Nm (7.4 ft. lbs.)

Camshaft bearing bolts




Tighten sixteen bolts on numerical order an one side bank as shown in the illustration.
Torque 10 Nm (74 ft. lbs.)

Camshaft Pulley/Gear Torque
Tighten bolt for camshaft drive gear pulley assembly to the specified torque.
Torque 78 Nm (57.5 ft. lbs.) with Oil
Install center cap of camshaft drive gear pulley.
Torque 15 Nm (11.1 ft. lbs.)

Exhaust Manifold nuts-LH & RH

Left Hand Manifold:

Install exhaust manifold and tighten exhaust manifold fixing nuts to the specified torque with new nuts.
Torque 57 Nm (42 ft. lbs.)
