SUBJECT: JAGUAR SUSPENSION GEOMETRY SPECIFICATION
MODEL: XJ6-SERIES III & XJ-S
Because of Jaguar's continuing efforts to upgrade vehicle durability and handling qualities, the Workshop Manual, Technical Service Bulletin J83/30, and the recently issued "Performance Masters" audio-visual program all provide seemingly conflicting suspension and steering geometry specifications. These specifications are each correct depending on the year model and VIN of the vehicle to be repaired.
To eliminate any confusion or errors, the following specifications are correct and are to be strictly adhered to:
1. All XJ6-Series III, After VIN-360146
Wheel Alignment - Front 0" to 1/8" Toe In
Camber Angle - Front 1/2~ Negative +/- 1/4~
- Rear 3/4~ Negative +/- 1/4~
Castor Angle - Front 3-1/4~ Positive +/- 1/4~
2. All XJ6-Series III, Prior to VIN-360146
Wheel Alignment - Front 1/16" - 1/8" Toe In
Camber Angle - Front 1/2~ Positive +/- 1/4~
- Rear 3/4~ Negative + 1/4~
Castor Angle - Front 2-1/4~ Positive +/- 1/4~
3. All XJ-S
Prior to "HE" After "HE"
Wheel Alignment - Front 0-1/16" Toe Out 0-1/8" Toe In
Camber Angle - Front 1/2~ Positive +/- 1/4~ 1/2~ Negative +/- 1/4~
- Rear 3/4~ Negative +/- 1/4~ 3/4~ Negative +/- 1/4~
Castor Angle - Front 3-1/2~ Positive +/- 1/4~ 3-1/2~ Positive +/- 1/4~
Early specification vehicles CANNOT be updated to the later Geometry settings.
The above information supersedes all previously issued. Please ensure that your records are amended accordingly and that all affected dealership personnel are made aware of this information.
