The following purge system installation instructions refer to vehicles which have been modified from electric purge control to vacuum purge control by the introduction of anti-stall modification kit JLM 832 arising from TSB J86/35.

The vehicles within the above VIN range incorporating this modification can be identified by the presence of a vacuum purge control valve (Fig 1). The control valve receives a vacuum signal from the throttle tapping via a delay valve and vacuum reservoir and replaces the original in-line solenoid valve and electrical control.

Kit installation to these vehicles requires installation of main kit JLM 10557 in conjunction with supplementary kit JLM 10641.


In addition to modification to the purge system at the front end of the vehicle, installation of the purge kit may necessitate modifications at the rear, details of which are found at the end of this section.
