FAULT FINDING

Caution: Wrong connection can destroy control unit.

If it is necessary to connect an independent power supply to control unit while it is still in door, observe the following connections:

Positive (+) is purple
Negative (-) is black


It is recommended that this procedure is carried out with unit off the car.

1. Check in-line 15-amp fuse above passenger side fuse box up to VIN-470739.
Check 15-amp fuse #17 in auxiliary fuse panel from VIN-470740. Replace fuse, if bad, and recheck.
2. If fuse is good, check voltage to control unit purple wire, at block connector inside left front door post. If no voltage, check associated wiring. Refer to ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC DIAGRAMS.
3. If voltage is present, disconnect block connector and fit a continuity tester across motor harness connections. Position door latch to full lock position and operate door lock.
4. If lamp does not light momentarily, change control unit.
