Transmission Fluid - Darkening of Color

There seems to be some concern, especially with owners, about the darkening of the color in service of the transmission fluid used in the Borg-Warner Model 66 Transmission. Color darkening has no detrimental effect to the transmission and can be considered serviceable.
If there is any doubt about the condition of the transmission, this can be confirmed by road test and pressure check. The correct fluid specification for the Borg-Warner Model 66 transmission is Type "F". The type "G" specified in the owner's manual is a European specification.
