Removal and Installation

Downpipe Converter Replacement:






NOTE: Number references in text specify numbered components in image.

1. Jack up front of vehicle and place on stands.
2. Unplug oxygen sensor connectors in engine compartment and release 3 harness retaining clips.
3. Remove oxygen sensor from downpipe assembly.
4. Remove nut and bolt from joint clamp (1) between downpipe assembly and under floor catalyst assembly. Move clamp ring forward.
5. Support under floor catalyst assembly and separate from downpipe.
6. Remove nuts (2) securing downpipe assembly to exhaust manifold and remove downpipe from vehicle.
7. Remove and discard manifold sealing rings (3).
8. Reverse removal procedure to install new downpipe catalyst assembly.
9. Use new sealing rings and coat all joints with recommended exhaust sealer (TIVOLI KAY ADHESIVES No. 5696).
10. Torque nuts and bolts to specification. Ensure that exhaust system components are clear of underbody and chassis.

11 - 13 ft lb (15 - 18 Nm)

Downpipe To Exhaust Manifold
22 - 26 ft lb (30 - 35 Nm)

Oxygen Sensor
36 ft lb (50 Nm)
