Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair

NOTE: The factory does not give any specifications for setting the throttle potentiometer without using the Jaguar Diagnostic System test equipment.

REMOVE
- Open the hood and disconnect the battery earth lead.
- Slacken breather and extra air valve hose clips at intake elbow and displace hoses from elbow.
- Slacken throttle housing to elbow hose clip at throttle housing and displace hose.
- Slacken air mass meter to elbow hose clip and displace hose.
- Remove intake elbow mounting securing nut and remove elbow for access.
- Disconnect throttle potentiometer multi-plug.
- Displace and remove potentiometer.

REFIT
- Fit and fully seat new throttle potentiometer to throttle housing.
- Fit but do not fully tighten potentiometer securing bolts.
- Following adjustment finally tighten potentiometer securing bolts.
- Refit the air intake elbow assembly and tighten hose clips.
- Connect the battery earth lead and close the hood.
