RADIO FAILURE DUE TO WATER ENTRY

ISSUE:

Radio problems can be caused by condensation dripping off the A/C case and entering the radio through the ventilation holes. Water damage may cause intermittent loss of radio channel(s), no radio operation or static output.

ACTION:

On vehicles prior to VIN 575153 (Sedans) and 163790 (XJ-S), a condensation deflector shield MUST be installed whenever a replacement radio is installed, OR whenever a center console is disassembled (and a deflector shield has not been previously installed).

Install the deflector shield as indicated in fig. 1 (Sedan) and fig. 2 (XJ-S).
