Remote Transmitter Does Not Unlock Vehicle - Vehicle Locked For Extended Period - Install Revised Driver Door Module

Issue:

Some 2003 MY S-TYPE vehicles, within the above VIN range, may fail to unlock from the remote transmitter after the vehicle has been left locked for a length of time, overnight for example.

If the car is then opened with the key and the ignition cycled, the remote function will then operate, and continue to do so, until the vehicle is again left locked for a period of time.

The concern is the result of the Drivers Door Module (DDM) software not responding to the transmitter signal. To eliminate this concern a revised DDM is now available and should be installed.

Action:

In case of a verified customer complaint of the above condition on a 2003 MY S-TYPE, within the above VIN range, replace the DDM as described below.

Note:
The Service Writer should advise the customer that the settings of some memory functions will be cleared as a result of disconnecting the battery.

Record the following system settings prior to disconnecting the battery so that they may be reset to the customers preferred setting.

^ Clock time setting

^ Clock 12/24 hour setting

^ CD compress mode (if equipped. Radio must be in CD mode to check this setting.)

^ Transmission sport/normal mode

^ Climate Control settings

^ Audio volume

^ Navigation memory will be retained if the battery has not been disconnected longer than 24 hrs.

The trip computers (both A & B) will reset to zero, these however cannot be returned to prior readings.

1. Disconnect the battery (see Workshop Manual, JTIS CD ROM, section: 414-01, General Procedures).

2. Install the new DDM (see Workshop Manual, JTIS CD ROM, section: 419-10, SRO 86.80.29).

3. Connect the battery (see Workshop Manual, JTIS CD ROM, section: 414-01, General Procedures).

4. Reset customer preferences including the clock.
