CONDITION SUMMARY:

HLDF SCREEN LOCK-UP WITH MESSAGE
"EMERGENCY OS PLEASE RE-LOAD SOFTWARE" DISPLAYED

A customer may report a concern of a navigation screen lock-up.

Situation:
If a power supply is interrupted or if IDS is used to update any module on the Media Orientated System Transport (MOST) circuit, the HLDF software can be corrupted. Corrupted HLDF software will cause the on-screen message "Emergency OS please re-load software" to be displayed and the navigation screen to lock-up.

Action:
Should a customer report this concern, refer to the Repair Procedure detailed in this bulletin to configure the front control/display interface module.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

CONFIGURE FRONT CONTROL/DISPLAY INTERFACE MODULE

CAUTION:
A Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during module configuration.

IDS DVD 102 with Patch File / or later software must be used for this repair procedure.

1. Connect the approved power supply to the vehicle battery.

2. Connect IDS to the vehicle and begin a new diagnostic session.

3. Enter the correct VIN for the current vehicle.

4. Follow the IDS prompts to read the vehicle configuration.

5. When prompted "Do you wish to read diagnostic trouble codes?", select "NO" and then press "tick" to continue.

6. Follow all on-screen instructions and select the "Vehicle Configuration" tab.

7. Select "Module programming".

8. Select "Configure existing modules".

NOTE:
The software download will be completed in approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes.

No further intervention is required during this time.

9. Select "Front Control/Display Interface Module" and follow on-screen instructions to complete software download.

10. When the download is completed, exit the current diagnostic session.

11. Disconnect IDS and the battery power supply.
