Front Shock Absorber Squeak - Repair Procedure





AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE

CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation:

An issue has been identified where a squeak noise from the front suspension when driving over bumps may be evident. This noise may be due to the front shock absorbers.

NOTE:
Front shock absorbers must be replaced in pairs on a customer complaint basis only.

Action:

In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to replace the front shock absorbers.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

DIAGNOSE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER SQUEAK

1. Road test vehicle to confirm squeak noise is present.

2. Open hood.

NOTE:
Global Technical Reference (GTR) lookup sequence is as follows: GTR Home > NAS > X150 - XK > Electrical Guides > Model Year > Electrical Guides.

3. Disconnect front shock absorber electrical connectors FL015 and FL025.

4. Close hood.

5. Road test vehicle to confirm squeak noise is no longer present.

^ If the squeak noise is no longer present, continue to REPLACE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBERS below.

^ If the squeak noise is still present, do not replace the front shock absorbers; connect front shock absorber electrical connectors FL015 and FL025 and carry out further diagnosis as a separate Warranty claim.

REPLACE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBERS

NOTE:
Global Technical Reference (GTR) lookup sequence is as follows: GTR Home > NAS > X150 - XK > Service Information > Model Year > 2: Chassis > 204: Suspension > 204-01: Front Suspension.

1. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 204-01: Front Suspension to replace both front shock absorbers.
