Service Action: Sidelights Remain 'ON' at Ignition 'OFF'





AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation:
The sidelights may remain on when turning the ignition 'OFF', which may cause the battery to go flat. This may be caused by a software error within the Body control module.

NOTE:
Vehicles within the VIN range V00001 - V14247 must be updated at the same time as Safety Recall J019.

Action:
Dealers are required to HOLD all affected new vehicles in your control and withhold them from onward distribution and sale pending completion of the rework action detailed in this Technical Bulletin. Affected vehicles in the hands of owners should be repaired at the next available opportunity. At the time of customer appointment, ensure that all outstanding service campaigns for each individual vehicle are identified and allocate sufficient time and resources to complete all campaigns.

For vehicles in dealer inventory, this Service Action should be performed in conjunction with the vehicle Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) and on all eligible vehicles prior to sale and handover to the customer.

NOTE:
Always check DDW to verify that the vehicle is affected by this Service Action prior to undertaking any repairs. Repair procedures are under constant review and therefore times and prices are subject to change; those quoted here must be taken as guidance only. Always refer to DDW to obtain the latest repair time.

Warranty claims should be submitted quoting Program Code K075 along with the relevant Option Code. The Option Code which contains drive in I drive out may only be claimed if the vehicle is brought back into the workshop for this action alone to be undertaken.

This Update Prior to Sale is valid for a limited time only and will expire on 30 November 2012. All Warranty claims prior to this date must be submitted for payment within 30 days of completion of the repair.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

UPDATE BODY CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE

CAUTION:
Ensure all ignition 'ON' / ignition 'OFF' requests are carried out; failure to perform these steps may cause damage to control modules in the vehicle.

CAUTION:
A Jaguar-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during IDS diagnosis / module programming.

1. Connect the Jaguar-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.

2. Turn ignition ON (engine not running).

NOTE:
IDS must be loaded with IDS-DVD123_V7.05 or later and Calibration File 52 or later.

3. Connect the IDS to the vehicle and begin a new Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) session.

4. Follow the on-screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle.

5. From the Session Type selection screen, choose 'Campaigns'.

6. Follow the on-screen prompts until the Recommendations tab is visible.

CAUTION:
Choose ONLY the control module(s) below from the SDD Campaigns list for updating. DO NOT select any module(s) not listed below which may be displayed as this will result in damage to the vehicle.

7. From the list of recommendations, select Run for the following modules only:

^ Configure existing module > Body control module

8. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.

9. Exit the current session.

10. Disconnect the IDS and the Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply from the vehicle.
