Power Steering System Filling

NOTE:

WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.
1 Raise and support the vehicle.
For additional information, refer to Air Deflector Service and Repair





CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.

NOTE:
Remove and discard the O-ring seals.





CAUTION: Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.

NOTE:

CAUTION: Install new o-ring seals

Torque to: 24 Nm
1 Lower the vehicle.





CAUTION: Fluid must always be present in the reservoir during bleeding.
Fill the power steering reservoir.
2 Install the vacuum hand pump to the power steering fluid reservoir.

NOTE:
Apply the maximum vacuum possible on the reservoir for 1 minute.
3 Apply a vacuum to the power steering fluid reservoir.
4 Remove the vacuum hand pump from the power steering fluid reservoir.





CAUTION: Fluid must always be present in the reservoir during bleeding.
Fill the power steering reservoir.
Run the engine for 30 seconds.
Turn the steering fully lock-to-lock, stop the engine.
5 Install the vacuum hand pump to the power steering fluid reservoir.

NOTE:
Apply the maximum vacuum possible on the reservoir for 1 minute.
6 Apply a vacuum to the power steering fluid reservoir.
7 Remove the vacuum hand pump from the power steering fluid reservoir.





CAUTION: Fluid must always be present in the reservoir during bleeding.
Fill the power steering reservoir.
Run the engine for 30 seconds.
Turn the steering fully lock-to-lock, stop the engine.
8 Install the vacuum hand pump to the power steering fluid reservoir.

NOTE:
Apply the maximum vacuum possible on the reservoir for 1 minute.
9 Apply a vacuum to the power steering fluid reservoir.

10 Remove the vacuum hand pump from the power steering fluid reservoir.





CAUTION: Fluid must always be present in the reservoir during bleeding.
Fill the power steering reservoir.
Run the engine for 30 seconds.
Turn the steering fully lock-to-lock, stop the engine.




Install the power steering fluid reservoir cap.

11 Check for fluid leaks.
