Service Action: Driver Air Bag Module Replacement

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
XJ (X351) VIN: V00001 - V03290
Model Year: 2010 - 2011

CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation:
A limited number of driver air bag covers may have been incorrectly manufactured by the supplier away from Jaguars specifications. At temperatures above 158°F (70°C), a portion of the air bag cover may detach during a deployment. This cover detachment does not affect the performance or functionality of the air bag.

Action:
Dealers are required to update all affected vehicles within their control and withhold them from retail delivery pending completion of the rework actions detailed in this bulletin. Affected vehicles in the hands of owners should be repaired at the next available opportunity. At the time of customer appointment, ensure that all outstanding service campaigns for each individual vehicle are identified and allocate sufficient time and resources to complete all campaigns. Refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to replace the driver's air bag module.

REPLACE DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE

1. Refer to Workshop Manual section 501-20B: Supplemental Restraint System - Driver Air Bag Module, and replace the driver air bag module.

NOTE:
Displaced air bag modules will not be placed on mandatory Warranty Parts Return and must be disposed of in accordance with all Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations.

2. Refer to Workshop Manual section 501-20B: Supplemental Restraint System - Air Bag Disposal, and properly dispose of the removed driver air bag module.
