Cylinder Head RH
This is a "Trustmark Authoring Standards (TAS) Repair Procedure"
- TAS style procedures can be identified by steps that have no accompanying step text and the magenta color of the electrical connectors and fasteners such as nuts, bolts, clamps or clips.
- TAS removal and installation procedures use a sequence of color illustrations to indicate the order to be followed when removing/disassembling or installing/assembling a component.
- Many of the TAS procedures will have the installation information within the removal steps.
- The TAS color illustrations use a variety of symbols to indicate important details of the procedures. It is important to understand these symbols in order to properly used the TAS procedures.

Removal

1 Raise and support the vehicle.

CAUTION: Discard the seal.

Clamp the hose to minimize coolant loss.

Remove and discard the O-ring seal.





NOTE:
Discard the gasket.









CAUTION: If a new cylinder head has been installed then new tappets must be installed.

CAUTION: If the cylinder head is being removed without a new component being installed, the tappets must be installed in their original positions.





CAUTION: Discard the bolts.





NOTE:
Discard the gasket.

Installation






CAUTION: An acceptable flatness of the cylinder head is 0.1mm.

NOTE:
For cylinder head with distortion above the maximum allowance, the cylinder head material must be measured.
1 Check cylinder head face for distortion, across the center and from corner to corner.





CAUTION: Use care when installing the cylinder head. Damage to the cylinder block, cylinder head or cylinder head gasket may result.

CAUTION: The head gasket must be installed over the cylinder block dowels.

NOTE:
Install a new cylinder head gasket.





Torque to: 20 Nm





Torque to: 35 Nm




2 Tighten the bolts 1 to 10, a further 90 degrees.




3 Tighten the bolts 1 to 10, a further 120 degrees.





Torque to: 25 Nm





Torque to: 12 Nm





CAUTION: If a new cylinder head has been installed then new tappets must be installed.

CAUTION: If the cylinder head is being removed without a new component being installed, the tappets must be installed in their original positions.
4 Lubricate the valve tappets with clean engine oil.





NOTE:
Install a new gasket.

Torque to: 12 Nm





CAUTION: A new O-ring seal is to be installed.

NOTE:
Install a new engine oil filter.





Torque to: 12 Nm





Torque to: 20 Nm





Torque to: 20 Nm





CAUTION: Install the new seals.

Torque to: 10 Nm





CAUTION: Install a new seal.

Torque to: 12 Nm





Torque to: 25 Nm
