Service Action: Illuminated Tread Plates Inoperative
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation:
An issue has been identified on a limited number of 2011 model year XJ vehicles where the tread plates fail to illuminate correctly.
Action:
Dealers are required to update all affected vehicles within their control and withhold them from retail delivery pending completion of the rework actions detailed in this bulletin. Affected vehicles in the hands of owners should be repaired at the next available opportunity. At the time of customer appointment, ensure that all outstanding service campaigns for each individual vehicle are identified and allocate sufficient time and resources to complete all campaigns. Refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to replace the illuminated tread plates.

Always refer to DDW to obtain the latest repair time. Check DDW to ensure that the vehicle is affected by this Service Action prior to undertaking any rework action. At the time of confirming a booking for vehicle repair, ensure that all outstanding Service Actions are identified to ensure the correct parts are available and adequate workshop time is allocated for repairs to be completed at one visit.
Warranty claims must be submitted quoting Program Code K072 together with the relevant Option Code from the table. The SROs and part information listed have been included for information only.
The Option Codes which allow for the drive in / drive out allowance can only be claimed if the vehicle is brought back into the workshop for this action alone to be undertaken.
This Service Action is valid for a limited time only. Warranty claims with a repair date prior to the 31 August 2012 closure date must be submitted for payment within 30 calendar days of completion of the repair.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
REPLACE ILLUMINATED TREAD PLATES
1. Remove right-hand front (RHF) tread plate. (Figure 1 [RHF shown; remaining three similar])
2. Disconnect electrical connector. (Figure 2)
3. Connect electrical connector to the new tread plate.
4. Install RHF tread plate.
5. Perform steps 1-4 on the remaining three tread plates.
