AGM / Flooded Battery Replacement

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation: Vehicle batteries (Absorbed Glass Mat [AGM] or flooded) must be replaced like for like'.

Example: if an AGM battery is fitted, replace only with an AGM battery; if a flooded battery is fitted, replace only with a flooded type battery.

Cause: Battery replacement.

Action: In the event it becomes necessary to replace a vehicle battery, refer to the Battery Identification Information outlined below.

TOOLS:

IDS with latest IDS-DVD and Calibration File; Jaguar-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply; Midtronics Battery Tester

Refer to Workshop Manual for any required special tools

NOTE: Failure to follow the Battery Identification Information may result in the replacement battery Warranty claim being rejected.

NOTE: All battery warranty claims must be supported by a completed Midtronics Battery Tester printout. All battery warranty claims must contain the Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) (DTC) in the Business / Technician Narrative section.

BATTERY IDENTIFICATION INFORMATION

CAUTION: Unless specifically instructed in any Bulletin I Service Action or via a parts supersession, the replacement battery must be the same type as the one removed from the vehicle:

Example: if an AGM battery is fitted replace only with an AGM battery; if a flooded battery is fitted replace only with a flooded type battery.

NOTE: Always refer to the Battery Care Manual (TOPIX) for battery diagnosis and testing and Workshop Manual section 414-01 for battery replacement information.
