Update Prior to Sale: Audio Control Module Update

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
XF (X250) VIN: specific VINs only; see attached list
Model Year: 2012

CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation:

A concern has been identified in a limited number of 2012 model year XF vehicles which may have had an incorrect level of software programmed into the Audio Control Module (ACM). This incorrect level of software may lead to one or more of the following issues:

^ Black Map - no map data displayed but soft keys are shown

^ Destination location showing current location on Navigation destination entry screen and associated with error message

^ Loss of audio for ignition cycle - no audio from any source for the ignition cycle

^ System Lock Up - may also cause excessive quiescent battery drain / flat battery

Action:

Dealers are required to HOLD the affected vehicles within your control and refrain from releasing the vehicles for new or used vehicle sale pending completion of the rework action detailed in this Technical Bulletin. For vehicles in dealer inventory, this UPS should be performed in conjunction with the vehicle Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI). For vehicles in dealer inventory which have already had the PDI completed, this UPS should be completed prior to final preparation / customer handover. For those vehicles already in the hands of customers, this should be done at the next available opportunity prior to the expiration date.
