Hood
This is a "Trustmark Authoring Standards (TAS) Repair Procedure"
- TAS style procedures can be identified by steps that have no accompanying step text and the magenta color of the electrical connectors and fasteners such as nuts, bolts, clamps or clips.
- TAS removal and installation procedures use a sequence of color illustrations to indicate the order to be followed when removing/disassembling or installing/assembling a component.
- Many of the TAS procedures will have the installation information within the removal steps.
- The TAS color illustrations use a variety of symbols to indicate important details of the procedures. It is important to understand these symbols in order to properly used the TAS procedures.

Removal

The hood is manufactured from aluminium.

NOTE:
The hood is serviced as a separate bolt-on panel.

WARNING: The hood and its associated components form part of the pedestrian protection system, it is essential that any repair or replacement operations do not affect the safe working of the system.

Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.

Installation






NOTE:
This step requires the aid of another technician.

NOTE:
If the hood hinges are deformed as a result of the pedestrian protection system deployment, they will need to be replaced.
1 Offer up the panel and loosely install the hood hinge retaining nuts.
2 Check alignment, if correct, proceed to next step, if not, rectify and recheck before proceeding.





CAUTION: Make sure to protect the paintwork.

NOTE:
This step requires the aid of another technician.

Torque to: 17 Nm




3 Loosely install both hood strikers.
4 Gently close the hood so that the strikers are aligned to the latches.
5 Check alignment, if correct, proceed to next step, if not, rectify and recheck before proceeding.





Torque to: 11 Nm





Torque to: 9 Nm
