Rear Subframe
This is a "Trustmark Authoring Standards (TAS) Repair Procedure"
- TAS style procedures can be identified by steps that have no accompanying step text and the magenta color of the electrical connectors and fasteners such as nuts, bolts, clamps or clips.
- TAS removal and installation procedures use a sequence of color illustrations to indicate the order to be followed when removing/disassembling or installing/assembling a component.
- Many of the TAS procedures will have the installation information within the removal steps.
- The TAS color illustrations use a variety of symbols to indicate important details of the procedures. It is important to understand these symbols in order to properly used the TAS procedures.

Removal
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.
1 Raise and support the vehicle.
2 Remove the rear wheels and tires

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.
NOTE:
The fuel tank has a non-return valve in the filler stub pipe, only the fuel present in the filler hose will be spilt.

CAUTION: Always plug any open connections to prevent contamination.
CAUTION: If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
NOTE:
To prevent the loss of brake fluid, using the special tool apply the brake pedal and set to 40mm ( 1.6 in ) below the rest position.

Torque to: 38 Nm
Remove and discard the two sealing washers.
Repeat the above step for the other side.

Torque to: 133 Nm
Repeat the above step for the other side.

Do not tighten at this stage.

CAUTION: Make sure that new subframe bolts are installed.
Stage 1: 80 Nm
Stage 2:
240 degree
CAUTION: Make sure when lowering the rear subframe damage does not occur to the surrounding components. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.
NOTE:
Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.

Installation
Clean the components mating faces.

CAUTION: The halfshaft oil seal protector must be left in place, until the halfshaft is fully installed.
NOTE:

CAUTION: Do not install the rear halfshaft fully at this stage.
CAUTION: Only install the rear halfshaft until the halfshaft splines have past the halfshaft oil seal.

Remove and discard the halfshaft oil seal plutector.
Repeat the above step for the other side.
CAUTION: Make sure that the rear halfshaft circlip is installed correctly by pulling the halfshaft gently to make sure it is engaged.

5 Repeat the above step for the other side.
6 To install, reverse the removal procedure.
