Rear Disc Brake Pads [Vehicles With: Standard Brakes]





Brake Pads
This is a "Trustmark Authoring Standards (TAS) Repair Procedure"
- TAS style procedures can be identified by steps that have no accompanying step text and the magenta color of the electrical connectors and fasteners such as nuts, bolts, clamps or clips.
- TAS removal and installation procedures use a sequence of color illustrations to indicate the order to be followed when removing/disassembling or installing/assembling a component.
- Many of the TAS procedures will have the installation information within the removal steps.
- The TAS color illustrations use a variety of symbols to indicate important details of the procedures. It is important to understand these symbols in order to properly used the TAS procedures.

Removal

WARNING: Failure to release the tension and calibrate the electric parking brake during rear parking brake related service procedures, could cause the parking brake to function incorrectly or become inoperative.

WARNING: Do not allow dirt or foreign liquids to enter the reservoir. Use only new brake fluid of the correct specification from airtight containers. Do not mix brands of brake fluid as they may not be compatible.

WARNING: Brake pads must be renewed in axle sets only, otherwise braking efficiency may be impaired.

CAUTION: Brake fluid will damage paint finished surfaces. If spilled, immediately remove the fluid and clean the area with water.

NOTE:
Only extraction bolt from special tool 303-588 is used.

NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

NOTE:
The brake pad wear warning indicator sensor must be replaced each time the brake pads are serviced.

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
1 Raise and support the vehicle.
2 Remove the rear road wheels.

NOTE:
RH side only.




Release the 2 clips.




Release the clip.





WARNING: If the brake caliper piston seal is damaged a new brake caliper must be installed.

CAUTION: Do not allow the brake caliper to hang on the brake hose.

Torque to: 28 Nm

Brake caliper piston retractor tool, 206-080

Special Service Tool




Brake caliper piston retractor tool, 206-081
Using the special tools, fully retract the brake caliper piston.





NOTE:
RH side only.
Repeat the above procedure on the opposite side.

Installation






NOTE:
The brake pad wear sensor retaining tang must be installed to the sensor prior to installation to the brake pad.

NOTE:
RH side only.
1 To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Repeat the above procedure on the opposite side.
2 Depress the brake pedal several times, check the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir and top-up with brake fluid if necessary.
