Rear Lower Arm
This is a "Trustmark Authoring Standards (TAS) Repair Procedure"
- TAS style procedures can be identified by steps that have no accompanying step text and the magenta color of the electrical connectors and fasteners such as nuts, bolts, clamps or clips.
- TAS removal and installation procedures use a sequence of color illustrations to indicate the order to be followed when removing/disassembling or installing/assembling a component.
- Many of the TAS procedures will have the installation information within the removal steps.
- The TAS color illustrations use a variety of symbols to indicate important details of the procedures. It is important to understand these symbols in order to properly used the TAS procedures.

Removal

CAUTION: The final tightening of the suspension components must be carried out with the vehicle on its wheels.

CAUTION: LH illustration shown, RH is similar.

NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
1 Raise the vehicle on a 4 post lift.

WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.
2 Raise and support the body.

Torque to: 100 Nm





Torque to: 175 Nm





NOTE:
Install a new retaining nut and bolt.
Stage 1: 60 Nm
Stage 2:
135 degree









CAUTION: Prevent the rear lower arm ball joint ball pin hexagon from rotating. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the lower ball joint boot.

Torque to: 133 Nm





WARNING: Make sure the special tool is supported while carrying out the operation. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.

CAUTION: Make sure the special tool is correctly located and the lower ball joint boot is not damaged while carrying out the operation. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the component.

Special Service Tool




Remover, Ball Joint, 204-327





WARNING: Make sure the special tool is supported while carrying out the operation. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.

CAUTION: Make sure the special tool is supported while carrying out the operation. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the special tool.

CAUTION: Make sure the special tool is correctly located and the lower ball joint boot is not damaged while carrying out the operation. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the component.

NOTE:
Do not carry out this step if the rear lower arm ball joint released from the wheel knuckle lower pivot in the step above.
3 Strike the top surface of the special tool directly above the rear lower arm ball joint at the point indicated using a copper mallet.
Special Service Tool




Remover, Ball Joint, 204-327





WARNING: Make sure that a new nut is installed.

Torque to: 175 Nm





NOTE:
Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.

Torque to: 10 Nm

Installation

WARNING: Make sure that a new lower arm ball joint nut is installed.
1 To install, reverse the removal procedure.
