Shift Fork, Rail and Detent Ball Removal





Remove the first-second lock ball and spring (57).

Move the third-fourth shift fork (68) and rail (70) all the way forward into fourth gear position.
Remove the roll pins (65 and 67) that secure the shift forks to the rails.

Slide the third-fourth shift rail (70) back to Neutral position.





Remove the first-second detent plug (71) and spring (72).





Remove the fifth-reverse detent plug (79), spring (80) and ball (81).





Remove the first-second shift rail and fork (64-66) and the third-fourth shift rail and fork (68-70). Mark or tag the rails and forks for assembly reference.

Remove the lock pin (69) from the third-fourth shift rail (70).

Remove the first-second detent ball (73), interlock ball (74), lock finger (75) and fifth- reverse detent ball (81) from the case.

Remove the fifth-reverse shift rail (63) and reverse idler gear (60).





Remove the idler shaft roll pin (58) and the idler shaft (59).
