Rear Case Installation

Apply Jeep silicone sealer to the mounting surface of the rear case and install the case (52). Tighten the case bolts to 15 Nm (11 ft-lbs) torque.

Tap the rear case-to-intermediate case dowels into place.





Coat the edges of the intermediate shaft access plug (86) with Jeep silicone sealer and install the plug in the rear case.

Coat the fill plug, drain plug and backup light switch threads with Jeep silicone sealer.

Install and tighten the switch and plugs to 28 Nm (20 ft-lbs) torque.

Install the gearshift lever and boot.

NOTE: Fill the transmission with Jeep 75W-90, API grade GL 5 gear lube after installing the transmission.
