Starter Relay Test

1. On models equipped with manual transmission, place transmission in Neutral.
2. On models equipped with automatic transmission, place transmission in Park.
3. On all models, apply parking brake.
4. Check for battery voltage between starter relay battery terminal and ground.
5. Connect jumper wire on starter relay between battery and ignition terminals.
6. If engine does not crank, connect a second jumper wire to starter relay between ground terminal and good ground and repeat test.
7. If engine cranks in step 4, transmission linkage is misadjusted or neutral safety switch is defective.
8. If engine does not crank in step 4, starter relay is defective.
