PARTS REQUIRED:

**REPAIR PROCEDURE:**

This bulletin involves installing a door trim panel repair kit. The kit includes a bolster insert for the front door and a bolster and handle assembly for the rear door.

NOTE:
THE REPAIR PROCEDURE DIFFERS BETWEEN FRONT AND REAR DOORS. THE REAR DOOR REPAIR INVOLVES REPLACING THE BOLSTER AND DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY. THE FRONT DOOR PROCEDURE INVOLVES REPLACING THE BOLSTER AND RE-USING THE ORIGINAL HANDLE. USE CAUTION WHEN INSTALLING A FRONT DOOR REPAIR KIT TO AVOID DRILLING HEAT STAKES FORWARD OF THE DOOR MODULE SWITCH.

1. Remove the door trim panel and place it on a clean, protected work bench surface.

2. Locate the heat stakes shown in Figure 1 and drill out the heat stakes using a 23/64 in. Drill. Do not drill any of the heat stakes forward of the door switch module on front door repairs. Make sure to position the drill in the center of the heat stakes when drilling.

3. Remove the 3 door handle screws.

4. Scrape the edges of the heat stakes with a knife or suitable tool to remove any material left after drilling.

5. On front doors, remove the bolster by prying outward and sliding the bolster rearward to separate it from the assist handle, Rear door kit includes a new handle assembly.

6. Insert the new bolster into the trim panel and install the retainers onto the posts (See Figure 1 for rear door retainer locations). The four heat stake posts nearest the front door switch module will not be present. Seat the retainers fully using an 11/32 in. nut driver or socket to push them into place, making sure that the new bolster is tight against the trim panel.

7. Transfer door switch module to the new assembly inserting the metal bracket supplied in the front door kit as shown in Figure 3. This bracket is required to support the front section of the bolster when the assist handle is used.

8. Install the switch module screws.

9. Install the door handle screws.

10. Transfer the sound deadener to the new assembly using car to keep it below the upper retainers to avoid contact with them.

11. Install the trim panel.
