Cylinder Head Assembly: Specifications

CYLINDER HEAD









If your bolt has the short head (1), use the following torque specifications:
First: All to 30 Nm (25 ft. lbs.)
Second: All to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.)
Third: All to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.)
Fourth: All an additional 90°

CAUTION: Do not use a torque wrench for the Fourth step.

If your bolt has the long head (2), use the following torque specifications:
First: All to 30 Nm (25 ft. lbs.)
Second: All to 73 Nm (54 ft. lbs.)
Third: All to 73 Nm (54 ft. lbs.)
Fourth: All an additional 90°

CAUTION: Do not use a torque wrench for the Fourth step.

HEAD BOLT REUSE/REPLACE


The cylinder head bolts are tightened using a torque plus angle procedure. The bolts must be examined BEFORE reuse. If the threads are necked down the bolts must be replaced.

SURFACE VARIATION - Head-to-Block

Cylinder head must be flat within 0.1 mm (0.004 in.).

Cylinder Block - Deck surface must be within service limit of 0.050 mm (0.002 in.).

SURFACE VARIATION - Head-to-Manifolds

Surface must be flat within 0.15 mm per 300 mm (0.006 in. per foot) of manifold length.

Intake Manifold-Bolts 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)

CAMSHAFT BEARING CAP





Camshaft Bearing Cap-Bolts
M6 Bolts 12 Nm (106 in. lbs.)
M8 Bolts 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)

CAMSHAFT GEAR/SPROCKET

Phaser to Camshaft-Bolt 59 Nm (44 ft. lbs.)

EXHAUST MANIFOLD





Exhaust Manifold-Bolts 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.)
