Instrument Panel - Removal






REMOVAL

WARNING: Before servicing the steering column the airbag system must be disarmed. Failure to do so may result in accidental deployment of the airbag and possible personal injury.Driver Air Bag - Removal .

NOTE: Before proceeding with the following repair procedure, review all warnings and cautions. Service Precautions .





1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the center floor console. Floor Console - Removal
3. Remove the shifter assembly. Removal
4. Remove the cowl trim panels. Cowl Trim Panel - Removal.
5. Using trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, separate the snap clips and remove the steering column opening cover.





6. Remove the screws (2) and remove the steering column reinforcement (1).





7. Using trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, carefully pry the instrument panel center bezel (2) away from the instrument panel (1).
8. Disconnect the electrical connectors and the mechanical connections to the HVAC.
9. Remove the center bezel from the IP.
10. Remove the defrost grille from the IP. Defroster Grille - Removal.





11. Disconnect the electrical connectors at the A-pillars.





12. Remove the driver and passenger side end caps.





13. Remove the passenger side silencer pad.
14. Disconnect the radio antenna (1).





15. Disconnect the HVAC wire harness connectors (1 and 2).





16. Separate the center wire harness (3).





17. Remove the steering column from the vehicle. Steering Column - Removal.
18. Disconnect the main wire harness connectors at the driver's side cowl.





19. Disconnect the wire harness connectors at the driver's side A-pillar.





20. Remove the HVAC to I/P screws (1).





21. Remove the passenger side support bolts (2).





22. Remove the center support bolts.
23. Remove the driver's side support bolts (1).
24. Remove the fence line bolts.





25. Remove the instrument panel (1) from the vehicle.
