Engine: Service and Repair

Engine lubrication system. 4-151:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and body ground strap from firewall.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly.
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Disconnect electrical connector from oxygen sensor and exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
5. Disconnect battery cable and solenoid electrical connector from starter motor.
6. Remove starter motor attaching bolts, rear bracket nut, then the starter motor.
7. Disconnect electrical connectors from distributor and oil pressure sending unit.
8. Remove engine mount attaching nuts.
9. Remove hydraulic clutch slave cylinder and flywheel inspection plate.
10. Remove transmission clutch housing to engine attaching bolts.
11. Lower vehicle.
12. Support transmission using a suitable floor jack.
13. Mark and disconnect all vacuum hoses and electrical connector from engine.
14. Remove inlet and outlet heater hoses from heater core.
15. Drain radiator and remove lower radiator hose.
16. Remove upper radiator hose, fan shroud and radiator from vehicle.
17. Disconnect and cap power steering lines at power steering pump.
18. Install suitable engine lifting equipment to engine lifting eyes.
19. Remove engine from vehicle. If necessary, raise transmission slightly to provide a smooth engine from transmission separation.
20. Reverse procedure to install.
