Malfunction Indicator Lamp: Description and Operation

This system uses an instrument panel mounted warning lamp that will indicate the need for service. If a malfunction occurs, the lamp will illuminate and display "Check Carb". The ECM also uses a diagnostic program that will flash a code identifying the malfunction when this function is activated.


NOTE: On 1981-82 models, a "Check Carb" light is not used. Instead, the system has provision for connecting a test bulb that will illuminate if a malfunction exists.
