1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove drive belt(s), engine fan, hub assembly, damper pulley and vibration damper.
3. Remove A/C compressor and alternator bracket assembly.
4. Remove oil pan to timing case cover and timing case cover to cylinder block bolts.
5. Remove timing case cover and gasket from engine, Fig. 8.
6. Using a suitable tool, cut oil pan gasket end tabs flush with front face of engine cylinder block and remove gasket tabs.
7. Clean timing case cover, oil pan and cylinder block gasket surfaces.
8. Remove crankshaft oil seal from timing case cover.
9. Apply a suitable sealer to timing case cover gasket and install onto cylinder block.
10. Cut end tabs off of replacement oil pan gasket corresponding to pieces cut from original gasket. Using a suitable sealer install cut pieces onto oil pan.
11. Coat oil pan seal end tabs with a suitable sealer and install seal onto timing case cover.
12. Install timing case cover onto engine. Position timing case cover alignment tool and seal installer J-22248 into crankshaft opening of case cover as shown in Fig. 9.
13. Install case cover to cylinder block bolts and oil pan to case cover bolts. Torque bolts to 5 ft. lbs. Torque oil pan to case cover bolts to 11 ft. lbs.
14. Remove case cover aligning tool and position oil seal onto tool with seal lip facing outward. Apply a suitable sealer to outer diameter to seal.
15. Insert tool screw No. J-9163 into seal tool. Tighten tool nut until tool contacts timing case cover, Fig. 10.
16. Remove tool and apply clean engine oil to seal lip.
