Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair


1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove TPS retaining screws.
2. Disconnect TPS harness connectors and remove sensor.
3. Connect new sensor to transmission TCU harness, then mount sensor on throttle body but do not tighten attaching screws at this time.
4. Check and adjust sensor output voltage as follows:
a. Using a voltmeter, connect positive lead to terminal B and negative lead to terminal D.
b. Rotate TPS until output voltage is approximately 4.2 volts.
c. Tighten TPS attaching screws. If 4.2 volts cannot be attained, replace TPS.
5. Connect battery ground cable.
