High Altitude Jumper Wire
Altitude Jumper Wire:
This wire indicates to the MCU whether the vehicle is being operated above 4,000 ft or not. All vehicles come with this wire disconnected and taped to the wire harness by the MCU.
This wire must be connected to the engine ground if the vehicle is going to be continuously operated above 4,000 ft. elevation. To connect the jumper wire, remove the tape and extend the wire to the engine ground location next to the ignition coil. Other grounds will already have been attached to this point, so remove the screw and add the altitude wire to the other wires and reinstall the screw opposite of how it was removed. Ensure that the connections are clean and tight to reduce resistance.
WARNING: Changing altitudes requires connection of the altitude jumper wire, adjustment of the carburetor and timing, and changing the vacuum harness routing. A Vehicle Emission Control Information Update Packet is available from the dealer that includes the following items to help convert to a high altitude vehicle: A new Vehicle Emission Control Information Label, and a set of instructions for specific adjustments that need to be made to improve emission control performance at altitudes higher than 4,000 ft.
