This Bulletin is an updated version of a 1989 Bulletin (26- 52-89) and now includes the 1990 models.

When cutting a key using the dealer invoice key code, it will be necessary to know how to translate this code so it looks like the four character code that was on the key. Once this is done, the code can be found in the key cutting guide and the key can be cut.

Dealer invoices for 1989 and 1990 vehicles display the following key code information:
The EP and ES are Chrysler's code for identifying an ignition key (EP = Primary) and a door/trunk key (ES = Secondary).

In the ignition key code (EP), the second number is 0, 1, or
2. To translate, substitute an E. In the dealer invoice shown, EP2025, would become 2E25. If the second digit is a 3 or 4, substitute an F and EP2325 becomes 2F25.

For the door/trunk key code (ES), the first number will be 0 or 3, replace it with an L. Thus, the dealer invoice shown, ES0294, would translate to L294.
Other examples follow:

A Cherokee Primary Key Code EP2095 = 2E95
A Cherokee Secondary Key Code ES0102 = L102

A Wrangler Primary Key Code EP9177 = 9E77
A Wrangler Secondary Key Code ES3614 = L614

NOTE: TO EXPEDITE THE KEY CUTTING PROCESS, IT IS SUGGESTED THAT THE KEY CODES STAMPED ON THE KEY SLUGS BE RECORDED AT PRE-DELIVERY AND RETAINED FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.
