CHECK SCANNER OPERATION
Begin troubleshooting the test or communication problem by determining if the scanner is working normally. If the scanner works properly on other vehicles, particularly other Chrysler products, the problem is probably in the vehicle, not the scanner. If the scanner fails to light up or if the readings are unsteady, the scanner may be at fault. If the scanner intermittently resets or goes blank, a wire may be opening intermittently in one of the cables or in the adapter. Use an ohmmeter to check continuity of the scanner data cable from pin to pin between the D-shaped connectors at either end of the cable.
