IMPORTANT

Safety Recall # 723 -- Frame Cracking and Steering Gear Bolt Replacement

^ This service requirement applies only to all 1993 through 1996 model year Jeep Cherokee (XJ) right hand drive (RHD) vehicles.

^ The frame on the above listed vehicles, may crack where the steering gear attaches due to a missing frame weld. Frames that are not cracked must have a weld added to the frame rail and the steering gear bolts replaced. Frames that are cracked must have reinforcement plates welded to the frame rail and the steering gear bolts replaced.

Alternate Transportation:

^ Dealers who are servicing a vehicle that requires reinforcement plate installation should attempt to minimize customer inconvenience. Contact your zone office for further instructions on alternate transportation authorization if necessary.

Parts Packages:

^ Each involved dealer, to whom vehicles in the recall were invoiced, will receive enough Bolt Packages to service about 25% of those vehicles.
