SAFETY RECALL
VEHICLE CERTIFICATION LABEL -- TIRE/RIM INFORMATION
Dear Chrysler Corporation Vehicle Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Chrysler Corporation has determined that some 1993 model Jeep Cherokee vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 120 -- Tire Selection and Rims. The tire and wheel rim information listed on the Vehicle Certification Label specifies a minimum tire and rim size, larger than the proper minimum size.
Your vehicle, identified on the enclosed form, is affected. Therefore it requires installation of the enclosed tire/rim information correction label to provide the proper specifications as required by the Federal standard.
We ask that you apply the enclosed label so that it covers the original incorrect tire and rim information, as described on the reverse side of this letter.
If preferred, you may schedule an appointment for installation of the label by your dealer. This service will be provided free of charge, and should take less than one-half hour to complete. However, additional time may be required depending on how dealer appointments are scheduled and processed. Take the enclosed Owner Notification Form and the enclosed label with you at the time of your appointment and give it to your dealer.
If you have any problem obtaining the needed service, please contact the Chrysler Zone Service Office in your area. (It is listed under "Service Assistance" in your Owner's Manual.) A Zone representative will arrange for prompt attention to your vehicle.
We regret any inconvenience which this action may cause you. However, we believe that you understand our concern for motor vehicle safety, and for your continued satisfaction with our products. If your dealer fails or is unable to remedy this defect without charge and within a reasonable time, you may submit a written complaint to the Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 400 Seventh Street, S.W., Washington, D.C. 20590, or call the Toll Free Auto Safety Hotline at 1- 800-424-9393. (Washington D.C. area residents may call 366-01 23.)
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
