NOTE: The compressor may be removed and repositioned without disconnecting the refrigerant lines or discharging the refrigerant system. Discharging is not necessary if servicing the compressor clutch or clutch coil, the engine, the cylinder head, or the generator.

WARNING: Review all WARNINGS and CAUTIONS before performing the following operation.

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Loosen and remove the serpentine drive belt.
3. Unplug the compressor clutch coil and high pressure cut-off switch wiring connectors.
4. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system.
5. Remove the manifold and refrigerant lines from the compressor. Install plugs in, or tape over, all of the open refrigerant fittings.
6. Remove the compressor mounting bolts, and lift the compressor from the mounting bracket.

NOTE: It a replacement compressor is being installed, be certain to check the oil level.

INSTALLATION
1. If the compressor mounting bracket was removed, install the bracket to the engine.
- Tighten the mounting bolts to 27 Nm (20 ft lb).
2. Install the compressor on the mounting bracket.
- Tighten the bolts to 28 Nm (21 ft lb).
3. Remove the tape or plugs from all of the refrigerant fittings, and install the manifold and refrigerant lines on the compressor.
4. Install the serpentine drive belt.
5. Connect the compressor clutch coil and high pressure cut-off switch wiring.
6. Connect the battery negative cable.
7. Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system.
