Heater A/C Actuator Squeak

MODELS:
1997 - 1998 (TJ) Wrangler
1997 - 1998 (XJ) Cherokee

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

A squeaking noise may be present when the system mode is changed from floor to panel or defrost.

DIAGNOSIS:

Operate the system, changing the mode from floor to panel and defrost. If the noise is present, perform the Repair Procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves lubricating the heater floor door actuator lever and installing a retaining clip.

1. Place the heater a/c system in the panel mode to gain easier access to the floor door actuator. The actuator is located at the left end of the heater housing, above the transmission tunnel, near the accelerator pedal. Lubricate the actuator lever by brushing a on small amount of white grease (MOPAR Lubriplate, p/n 04549616).





2. Install the clip, p/n 06100839, to prevent any excessive movement of the actuator arm. (See Figure 1)
