B. Reprogram the TCM For 2005 Model Year Vehicles
NOTE:Whenever a module is reprogrammed, the software in the DRBIII(R); must be programmed with revision level 63.10 or later. If this flash process is interrupted or aborted, the flash process must be repeated.
1. Remove any old flash files from the DRBIII(R) memory. To clear the memory from the MAIN MENU:
a. Simultaneously press the "More" and "Yes" keys.
b. A screen will appear requesting a "Cold Boot".
c. Follow the on screen instructions by selecting the "F4" key.
d. When the DRBIII(R) reboots to the MAIN MENU, continue to Step # 2
2. Connect the DRBII to the vehicle.
3. With the ignition switch in the "RUN" position, determine the original part number of the ECM currently in the vehicle by performing the following steps:
a. Select "DRBIII� Stand Alone" at the main screen.
b. Then select "1998 - 2007 Diagnostics"
c. Then select "All (Except Below)".
d. Then select "Transmission".
e. Then select "Transmission Module".
f. Record the "TCM Part Number" on the repair order for later reference.
4. Unplug the DRBIII unit from the vehicle.
5. Connect the DRBIII(R) to TechCONNECT. Open TechTOOLS and verify that the "DRBIII(R) Status: Connected" message is in the upper right corner of the TechTOOLS screen.
6. Enter the "TCM Part Number" recorded in Step # 3f in the "Parts Criteria" area and select "Show Updates". TechTOOLS will populate the appropriate flash file.
7. If the part number of the latest flash file is the same as the part number recorded in Step 3f, continue with Section C - Install the Authorized Modifications Label.
8. Select the flash file.
9. Select the "DRBIII" radio button which is next to the "DOWNLOAD/UPDATE" button.
10. Select the "Download/Update" button.
11. Monitor the "Flash Download/Update Progress" window on the TechCONNECT and follow the instructions on TechCONNECT. When the flash process is complete, continue to Step # 12.
12 Disconnect the DRBIII(R) from TechCONNECT.
13. Open the hood. Install a battery charger and verify that the charging rate provides 13.0 to 13.5 volts. If the battery charger is timer controlled, set the battery charger to continuous charge. Do not allow the charger to time out during the flash process.
NOTE:
Use an accurate stand alone voltmeter. The battery charger volt meter may not be sufficiently accurate. Voltages outside of the specified range will cause an unsuccessful flash.
14. Connect the DRBIII(R) to the vehicle.
15. Download the TCM flash file from the DRBIII(R) to the vehicle. Using the DRBIII(R) select "VEHICLE FLASH".
16. Follow the directions on the DRBIII(R) screen. When the TCM flash process is complete, continue to Step 15.
17. Perform the TCM Quicklearn procedure as follows:
a. Disconnect the DRBIII from the vehicle.
b. Connect the DRBIII to the vehicle.
c. Select "Stand Alone".
d. Select "1998 2007 Diagnostics".
e. Select "All (Except Below)".
f. Select "Trans & TCase".
g. Select "Trans Module".
h. Select "Misc Functions".
i. Select "Quicklearn".
j. Follow the on screen prompts.
18. Continue to Section C - Install the Authorized Modifications Label
NOTE:
Due to the TCM programming procedure, DTC(s) may be set in other modules (ECM, TCM, BCM, MIC, SKIM, etc.) within the vehicle, if so equipped. Some DTC(s) may cause the MIL to illuminate. Check all modules using "Module Scan", record the DTC(s), and erase these DTC(s) prior to returning the vehicle to the customer. Erase DTC(s) in the ECM last. Erase DTC(s) in the other modules first.
