A. Inspect Brake Tubes
1. Place a fender cover at the top of the windshield and open the hood until it contacts the fender cover.2. Remove the engine air filter housing and throttle body fresh air connector hose.
3. Remove and discard the plastic tie strap (if equipped) retaining the brake tubes to the right shock tower next to the steering column intermediate shaft lower universal joint.
4. Using a small mirror, inspect the two brake tubes located next to the steering column intermediate shaft lower universal joint (Figure 2).
> If the steering column intermediate shaft lower universal joint has not rubbed against the brake tube(s), continue with Section C Install Brake Tube Retaining Clip.
> If one or both of the brake tubes have rub marks from contacting the steering column intermediate shaft lower universal joint, replace the brake tube(s) that have rub marks. Continue with Section B - Replace Brake Tube(s).
