SUBJECT:
A-Pillar Windnoise

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves sealing the windshield frame underneath the reinforcement brackets.

MODELS:

2007 (JK) Wrangler/wrangler Unlimited

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Windnoise along left and/or right A-pillar at speeds above 30 kph (20 mph). Sound is a rush/"open" cavity sound, located at the mid to upper A-pillar.

DIAGNOSIS:

If the vehicle operator describes the Symptom/Condition, perform the Repair Procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:





1. Remove windshield frame reinforcement bracket on A-pillar with windnoise, (Fig. 1).





2. Apply caulk to windshield frame weld flanges along rear of frame extending up 30 mm (1.25 in.), and forward, around frame for 65 mm (2.5 in.), (Fig. 2).

3. Reinstall windshield frame reinforcement bracket.

4. Tighten the windshield frame reinforcement bracket fasteners to 15-25 Nm (11-18 ft. lbs.).

5. Repeat steps 1-4 for the other side A-pillar if necessary.
