Interior - Headliner Sags At The Front/Rear

SUBJECT:
Sky Slider Headliner Sagging Or Hanging Too Low

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the Velcro hook strip along the front and rear headers. It will be necessary to replace both the front and rear hook strip, even if only one end is sagging/hanging.

MODELS:

2008 (KK) Liberty

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a Sky Slider sunroof (sales code GWH) built before September 11, 2008 (MDH 0911XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator may experience a headliner that is sagging at the front or rear of the headliner.

DIAGNOSIS:
If the vehicle operator experiences the Symptom/Condition, perform the Repair Procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:





SPECIAL TOOLS/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Open the Sky Slider about 30 inches.

2. Remove two push-pins holding the Headliner to the Retainer at the outboard ends.

CAUTION:
Be sure that the push pin is completely removed. A loose piece of the push pin can become dislodged and cause damage to the drive system.





3. Pull the headliner away from the drive system (Fig 1).

4. Using a scribe, mark the ends of the existing hook strip on the retainer.

5. Remove the existing hook strip from the retainer.

NOTE:
Do not remove the loop strip from the retainer.

6. Clean the retainer using Super Kleen Bug, Tar And Spot remover (p/n 04886330AA) or equivalent.

7. Wipe retainer with rubbing alcohol and let dry for 5 minutes.

8. Apply hook strip from kit (p/n 68055943AA) to retainer in between scribe marks.

9. Using a small roller or equivalent apply pressure along the entire hook strip removing all air bubbles.

10. Let hook strip set for 2 hours.

11. Insert new push pins (2) through the headliner into the retainer outboard holes.

NOTE:
Use new push pins from headliner kit p/n 68055943AA.

12. Starting at the center of the of the roof attach the headliner to the retainer working your way outboard.

13. Repeat process for the rear headliner.
