HELP USING THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION FOR FLASHING AN ECU IS
AVAILABLE BY SELECTING "HELP" THEN "HELP CONTENTS" AT THE TOP OF
THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION WINDOW.
THE wiTECH SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 12.03 OR HIGHER TO
PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.
SUBJECT:
Flash: Service Air Suspension Message And/Or U0415-00 And/Or C159E-15 Set
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves reprogramming the Air Suspension Control Module (ASCM) with new software.
MODELS:
2011 - 2012 (WK) Grand Cherokee
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with Quadra-Lift (TM) Air Suspension (sales code SER) built before May 1, 2012 (MDH 0501XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a "Service Air Suspension" message. Upon further investigation the Technician may find that U0415-00 Impliable Data Received From Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) or C159E-15 Air Pump Temperature Sensor has been set active or stored.
Also if the vehicle is driven in extremely cold temperatures (-30C/-22F) the ASCM should be updated with the new software. The new software will allow the air compressor to continue to operate until -40C/-40F.
Updating the software will correct the conditions listed above.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify the Air ride Suspension system are functioning as designed. If Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) other then the ones listed above are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If the customer describe the symptom/condition or if the technician finds the DTC, perform the Repair Procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
Install a battery charger to ensure battery voltage does not drop below 13.2 volts. Do not allow the charging voltage to climb above 13.5 volts during the flash process.
NOTE:
If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted.
1. Use the wiTECH Diagnostic Application to reflash the ASCM. Help using the wiTECH Diagnostic Application for flashing the ASCM is made available through the wiTECH Diagnostic Application. For instructions select the "HELP" tab on upper portion of the wiTECH window, then "HELP CONTENTS." This will open the Welcome to wiTECH Help screen where help topics can be selected.
2. After the flash has been performed turn ignition switch off.
NOTE:
This will allow the active codes to become stored.
3. Turn ignition switch on.
4. Clear any DTC's that may have been set in all modules due to reprogramming. The wiTECH application will automatically present all DTCs after the flash and allow the tech to clear them.
