Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve - Installation
INSTALLATION
1. Clean the gasket mounting area at the rear of the cylinder head and EGR valve.
2. Install a new gasket (2).
3. Position the EGR valve (1) at the rear of the cylinder head, install the two EGR valve mounting bolts (3) and tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
4. For vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, raise and support the vehicle Maintenance.
5. Position the transmission fluid level indicator tube (2), install the lower bolt (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.).
6. Install the transmission fluid level indicator tube upper bolt (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.).
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Connect the EGR valve (1) electrical connector (2).
9. Install the ignition wire harness tray (1) to the valve cover studs and connect the right bank ignition wires (cylinders 1, 3 and 5) to the spark plugs.
10. Install the upper intake manifold and EGR tube Intake Manifold - Installation.
11. Connect the negative battery cable and tighten nut to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.).
