A/C - System Is Inoperative

SUBJECT:
Air Conditioning Inoperative

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspecting the NC compressor serial number. If the number starts with "010" it will be necessary to replace the A/C compressor.

MODELS:

2011 (JK) Wrangler

NOTE:
This information applies to vehicles equipped with air conditioning (sales code HAA or HAB) built between January 4, 2011 (MDH 0104XX) and January 7, 2011 (MDH 0107XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

A/C system is inoperative. This may be caused by scratches on the shaft at the seal location.

Replacing the A/C compressor will correct this condition

DIAGNOSIS:





1. Locate the serial number on the rear of the A/C compressor (Fig. 1).

2. Does the Serial number start with "010"?

a. Yes >>> perform the repair procedure.

b. No >>> Repair complete. If A/C is inoperative further diagnosis is required.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Replace the A/C compressor, following the procedures in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT > 24 - Heating and Air Conditioning > Plumbing > Compressor, A/C - Remove and Install.

NOTE:
It is necessary to adjust the refrigerant oil level . Refer to the procedures in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT > 24 - Heating and Air Conditioning > Plumbing > Oil, Refrigerant - Standard Procedure.
