NSG370 Manual Transmission - Installation






INSTALLATION





1. Apply light coat of Mopar high temperature bearing grease or equivalent to contact surfaces of following components:
a. release fork ball stud
b. release bearing slide surface
c. input shaft splines
d. release bearing bore
e. propeller shaft slip yoke.
f. pilot bearing





2. Clean transmission front housing mounting surface.
3. Check the alignment of the clutch Clutch Disc - Installation.
4. Support and secure transmission to jack.
5. Install transmission on engine.
6. Tighten top transmission bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
7. Tighten two side bolts (1) to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.).
8. Tighten four bottom bolts (2) to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).






CAUTION: Do not allow release lever plunger to pivot more than 2° in either direction in the slave cylinder bore. Allowing the plunger to pivot more than 2° in the bore will cause fluid to bypass the seal and result in fluid leakage.

NOTE: Pull the clutch release lever toward the slave cylinder opening to insure proper seating of the slave cylinder plunger to the release lever pocket.

9. Install slave cylinder (3) in transmission.
10. Install hydraulic line (2) and with bracket to slave cylinder.

Note: Verify O-ring is on hydraulic line.

11. Install clutch slave cylinder (2) and tighten mounting nuts (1) to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
12. Bleed hydraulic system. Service and Repair.





13. Install starter (1).





14. Install transmission mount bolts and tighten to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
15. Install transmission crossmember (1) and tighten bolts to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) Crossmember - Installation.

16. If equipped, install transfer case . Removal and Replacement
17. Route and attach wiring harnesses to clips on case.
18. Install vents and electrical connectors.




19. Install propeller shaft/shafts with reference marks (1, 2) aligned Drive Shaft - Installation.

20. Install exhaust system.Catalytic Converter - Installation




21. Remove fill plug (1) and fill transmission with lubricant. Maintenance.

22. Install skid plates.
23. Lower vehicle.




24. Install shift lever (2) and tighten bolt to 4 Nm (33 in. lbs.) Shift Lever - Installation.

25. Connect negative battery cable.
