TRANSMITTAL (RRT) 12-066. ALL APPLICABLE SOLD AND UN-SOLD RRT VIN's
HAVE BEEN LOADED. TO VERIFY THAT THIS RRT SERVICE ACTION IS
APPLICABLE TO THE VEHICLE, USE VIP OR PERFORM A VIN SEARCH IN
TECHCONNECT. ALL REPAIRS ARE REIMBURSABLE WITHIN THE PROVISIONS OF
WARRANTY.
HELP USING THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION FOR FLASHING AN ECU IS
AVAILABLE BY SELECTING "HELP" THEN "HELP CONTENTS" AT THE TOP OF
THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION WINDOW.
THE wiTECH SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 13.01 OR HIGHER TO
PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.
SUBJECT:
Flash: No Start, No Crank Intermittently, B2204 ECU Configuration Mismatch
OVERVIEW:
This Bulletin involves reprogramming the Wireless Control Module (WCM).
MODELS:
2013 (JK) Wrangler
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built before October 10, 2012 (MDH 1010XX)
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a no crank, no start condition. Upon further diagnosis the tech may find an active B2204 ECU Configuration Mismatch. This condition may be caused by the vehicle's voltage dropping below 4.5 volts for greater than 200 msec, The WCM will lose information from the EEPROM. Information that may be lost includes key programmed status and immobilizer feature enabled status.
DIAGNOSIS:
1. Does the vehicle has an active B2204?
a. Yes >>> Proceed to Step # 2.
b. No >>> Proceed to the repair procedure.
2. Use the wiTech to start a key programming process.
a. Select "WCM Icon".
b. Select Misc function tab.
c. Highlight, program ignition keys and then select green arrow to start the function.
d. Select continue.
e. Locate and enter the pin, then select continue.
f. Verify pin, then select 'YES" then continue.
g. Place the unprogrammed key (customers key) in the ignition.
h. At this point close this routine.
3. Enter the diagnostic procedures folder home screen on wiTech and perform the reset ECU procedure for the WCM. Resetting the WCM will force the vehicle configuration to be relearned and written to the WCM EEPROM.
a. Select diagnostic procedure tab.
b. Highlight reset ECU and then select the green arrow to run diagnostic.
c. Select continue in the routine.
d. Highlight WCM module and select continue.
e. Select continue again (WCM resetting).
f. Close routine.
4. Did B2204 go stored and does the vehicle start and run?
a. Yes >>> Perform the repair procedure.
b. No >>> Continue diagnosis following standard service procedures.
If a customers VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers that describe the symptom/condition or if the technician finds the DTC, perform the Repair Procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Flash reprogram the WCM. Help using the wiTECH Diagnostic Application for flashing the WCM is made available through the wiTECH Diagnostic Application. For instructions select the "HELP" tab on upper portion of the wiTECH window, than "HELP CONTENTS." This will open the Welcome to wiTECH Help screen where help topics can be selected.
2. Clear any DTC's that may have been set in other modules due to reprogramming. The wiTECH application will automatically present all DTCs after the flash and allow the tech to clear them.
